Long Beach SightsEarl Burns Miller Japanese Garden The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is situated on the campus of California State University. The garden was made-up through the generosity of Mrs. Loraine Miller Collins in memory of her late husband. El Dorado Nature Center El Dorado Nature Center is a sanctuary in Long Beach. The center has native plant areas, nature trails, and a museum including ecology displays, hands-on exhibits for children, photographs and artwork. Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific The Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific has more than 10,000 exhibits protecting 550 species of sea creatures. On the main floor is the Great Hall of the Pacific, an underwater viewing tank and a gift shop. On the second floor visitors will find the Southern California and Baja Gallery with seals and sea lions as well as rays and skates. The Northern Pacific Gallery has sea otters and diving birds. In the Tropical Pacific Gallery are coral displays. Long Beach - University Art Museum The University Art Museum in Long Beach is dedicated to contemporary art only. The collection contains the Hampton Collection of American paintings, sculpture situated throughout the campus as well as photographs and prints by such artists as John Baldessari, Jim Dine, James Rosenquist, Robert Rauschenberg, Lorna Simpson, Julius Shulman, and Candida Höfer. |
