Explore Palm SpringsThe Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians defined in this area 1,000 years before the first golf ball was ever teed up. The tribe owns half the land on which Palm Springs is built and works to conserve Native American heritage. AttractionsAgua Caliente Cultural Museum The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum demonstrates the history and culture of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and other Cahuilla people. Agua Caliente Indian Reservation The Agua Caliente Indian Reservation is a huge scenic area that contains hiking trails and picnic areas set aside by the Tribal Council. Annenberg Theater Annenberg Theater demonstrates performances from the world of music, drama, comedy, opera, and dance. McCallum Adobe Museum The McCallum Adobe Museum in Palm Springs houses the Palm Springs Historical Society. Built in 1884 the adobe was the first home of the settlers of Palm Springs. Moorten's Botanical Garden Moorten Botanical Garden includes countless species of desert flora, placed in order according to where they were found and with detailed descriptions on the guidepost pathways. Palm Canyon Palm Canyon, about 6mi/10km south of the center of Palm Springs at the end of South Palm Canyon Drive, is a 15mi/25km long canyon wilderness belonging to the Agua Caliente Indians. You can also see the neighbouring Andreas and Murray Canyons. Palm Springs Air Museum The Palm Springs Air Museum includes one of the world's largest collections of planes from the Second World War period, provides a Grumman Wildcat and a Supermarine Spitfire. Palm Springs Desert Museum The Desert Museum contains beautiful displays of western art and Indian artifacts, as well as natural history exhibits. |
